Tri-County Electric Cooperative was challenged with an aging, multi-building facility located in the center of the City of Lancaster.
The new 29,925 sq.ft. facility on 15 acres improved access to the facility for the members as well as the line crews by being located directly on a major Highway. Operational efficiencies were improved by locating all of the functions of the facility at a single location compared to being previously located in four separate buildings divided by city streets. Meeting the needs of the facility at the best value for the members was a main goal of the design.
A pre-engineered metal building system was utilized for reducing the initial cost of the building structure while a ground source mechanical system reduced operational cost for the life of the building by reducing the energy use for heating and cooling the building.
