This month, Cooperative Building Solutions is proud to celebrate 15 years in business! Our growth and success would not be possible without the dedication of our CBS team members, as well as the constant support of our incredible electric cooperative clients and colleagues. For those of you who are not already familiar with our evolution, I will share a brief version of the CBS origin story:
After retiring from a successful career with NiSC spanning 22 years, Gary Hobson was asked to provide support to his former company as an owner representative administering the design and construction of their new headquarter facility. PARIC Corporation was selected as the Construction Manager for the project, and I was assigned as Project Manager. Needless to say, the project was a success, and word quickly spread about Gary’s unique expertise in the owner representation role. He was hired to oversee some additional electric cooperative projects, including Callaway Electric, where I was reunited to work with Gary when PARIC was again chosen as the Construction Manager. Gary and I had an instant connection and made a strong team from the start. Together, we recognized the need for a consistent, reliable team to support electric cooperatives with their design-build projects.
With that vision in mind, Cooperative Building Solutions was established on July 1, 2009. Our original mission was simple and remains the same today – to provide a complete turnkey solution for the planning, design, construction, and support of electric cooperative facilities.
Since our inception, CBS has grown from a local provider to a national organization, servicing over 160 electric cooperatives across 37 states, with over 3.5M square feet of facilities built. Our team has also grown significantly. In 2009, 5 employees worked on CBS’s first official project and today we are grateful to have over 50 team members. Our new dedicated workspace in St. Louis was completed last year and we continue to build our brand both internally and externally.
None of this progress would be possible without the dedication of each and every one of our CBS team members. Their commitment to put our clients first has been integral to our success and I am grateful for the opportunity to share in this journey together. In addition to our loyal staff, I am humbled by our incredible portfolio of electric cooperative clients and colleagues. Your trust and belief in CBS has allowed our company to continuously learn and serve.
Our future is very bright as CBS continues to thrive, while always remaining true to our founding purpose. Thank you for a special 15 years and cheers to celebrating the next successful chapter together!
